I had an engine warning light show up on Friday evening as I was just about to get home, the handbook was a bit vague, said something about noting the weather when the light came on (it was lashing it down) and it could be an electrical or engine management error.
Car is running fine but as it's a company vehicle I booked it in to be looked at on Thursday.
Got in this morning and the warning light has gone off, drove all the way down to Mansfield without it coming back on.
It did also go off on Saturday but that was only for about 5 minutes.
Puzzled as owt now, I could wangle a lie in on Thursday and still take it to the garage but I reckon I'll look a right t1t when I say "the light was on, honest"

Kin' cars.

It could be any one of a million* different things. But yep, the fault should be stored and they'll be able to retrieve it and tell you what it is/was.

*OK, several hundred at least.

Check that the rubber band hasn't broken.

Presumably the fault that caused the light to come on will be stored in the ECU and the garage will be able to find out what caused it despite it being off now. If it is an intermittent fault I'd think it is still worth taking it in to get it plugged in and diagnosed...

Call the garage to explain what has happened. If they still want to see the car you don't look a berk and if they don't want to see and the engine blows up your covered. Simples

If its orange don't worry. Especially if its gone off.

And, since it has gone off its most likely a sensor playing up.

Car running ok, no light anymore, dont fret.

Had a Fiesta (yep, same one) and the Battery warning light would come on when driving through standing water at roundabouts and the like during heavy rain. My guess with the "bow-wave" created, alternator was getting a thourough soaking.

Sorry, it's a 2010 Mazda 6.

My Volvo has an outside temperature warning light which had me puzzled for a while. The light comes on when it's less than 5 degrees outside.
