Anyone know what these cymbals are? They have a stamp mark of ;-- lion with sword in paw, small crown over lion, sun behind lion, 2 small alpine horns below lion linked to each other. They measure 13 and half inches, very heavy with rivet fixed to bell hole. Suspect circa 1930's - 1940's maybe orchestral hand cymbals? or hi-hats? Hoping someone out there will know what these are. Thanks for looking.

The rivets/grommets would point to them being orchestral or marching cymbals rather than hats. The logo you describe doesn't ring any bells though (Alpine horns? maybe Swiss/Paiste? I dunno...). Yes, pics would help, someone might recognise them.

Very unusual stamp, and (I think) pretty rare !

The cymbal is a "Zveltiam", which is supposed to sound rather Turkish/Arabic, but it was made in Italy. It was a UFIP "stencil" brand - made by them but branded to give it a more exotic sounding name. They were made in the 50s.

If you look closely at the cymbal, you might also find any of five other tell-tale marks - i. the word "Constantinople"; ii. a star; iii. a crescent (sometimes the star and crescent were stamped as one image); iv. what looks to be an Arabic word (but is, in fact, completely meaningless); and v. the word "Zveltiam".

Search for "Zveltiam" or "Zveltian" on Google (other search engines are available !) for more info.

Hi, thanks for the identification of these cymbals. There's no other marking on them only the lion stamp etc.

I think they are Bellotti Cymbals.
