Going to wrap my first shell.

Should I be picky with the choice of double sided tape for the wrap - or is it a Homebase/B&Q&Q&Q visit?

I've recovered quite a few drums over the years, mostly DW's and have always used regular double sided tape.Homebase/B&Q indeed.

I would favour a quality brand myself, but it's true that all lugs, badges and holders help to hold a wrap in position.

Nothing too thick would be my advice. I've never found wrap moves and super strong stuff is more likely to damage shells if you ever change your mind. Very thick stuff (such as gorilla tape) as leaves a very noticeable step on the overlap.

Your lugs are on the way btw. I've put in the fixing screws too.

If you are going to use a thick wrap - like Delmar Glass Glitter - the tape wonīt be sticky enough on the overlap.

Be sure to rough up the coating EXACTLY where the overlap is - and use contactglue here. I didnīt when I made my turqoise Glass Glitter kit, and had to redo all overlaps.

No problem on thin coatings like TW Pearl from ST - that is flexible enough for the tape to hold it in place.

My advise would be to use a thin doublesided tape like 3M 9088 - thick tape dampens the shell to much. Mind you, the thin tape and the coating does already - no reason to make it worse.

Awesome please do.

I'm afraid I didn't have any really short tension rods, so you may have to source those yourself. Of course if you have spare tension rods and a hack saw you can save yourself the expense!

Can't remember how short they'd need to be as I never finished the drum, glad to have given it a good home!
