Anyone using these?
Just been watching some clips and demos on YouTube. Are they really as good as HHX's etc? |

| They are very good for the price paid, but not quite up there with HHX's. |

Good good, but I have to ask. Good for the money .... I know we all have our own standards and our own values. But does that mean that these are pro-quality very usable instruments? Could you mix them up with (for example) a set of AAX's and they would blend right in, or would they sounds like a dustbin lid when you compare them to a similar top-end cymbal?
The youtube clips (the well miked ones) sound as pro as anything else, but you don't get to hear them actually alongside other top brands and that makes it hard to be objective. |

| They would def fit in, unless you have a dodgy one (as they are all individual). |

| You may even prefer them which would make them better than HHXs to you. |

| I tried some DH crashes against K Custom Hybrids, and I found that some of the DH were better than the K Customs, but most were really not as good. I would say that on the whole, Stagg reflect their price, in as much as they average out not as good as the 'big boys'. However, if you're willing to try a lot of the same cymbals (whcih I would do anyway) then you can luck out and get some which really punch above their weight. |

I must admit I have always believed that with any hammered cymbal you should, in theory, find no 'one' the same as any other. In fact, I spoke to a Zildjian rep once and he maintained that the machine hammered ones should sound different whereas the hand hammered ones tended to sound the same (his argument was that an experience hammer operator would actually keep working on a cymbal until it sounded the same as every other of that type he had made).
Not sure I fully believe that, but I do believe the proof of the pudding is in the eating. I've used Sabian exclusively for a long long time now and whilst I don't consider myself a slave to a label - there is a feeling of security you get from buying from a big brand. However, based on the feedback from you guys I'm now gonna find out where I can try some Stagg DH's over the weekend :-) |

Hi, I've 3 Exo's... 15, 17 & 18. The 18 had a crack & has just been replaced, but the 17 & 15 are permament fixtures on my kit. They're quite quick crashes and cut through well. Mine are several years old & the 18 had some rather dark overtones, but the 15 was clear and bright. I've heard the newer ones, with the standard logo (not script style) are far more consistent. For the money they are great sounding cymbals, but not quite up to HHX levels (unless you find a really good one).
Good luck...you may be surprised |

| Looks like in the South-East GAK will be the place for me to visit, and hopefully do some side-by-side comparison. I'll let you know how I get on! |

| I have a DH 20" ride, an 18" DH Exo crash and a 14" DH Exo thin crash. They are perfect for me. Good price, nice and shiney, and they sound just as good as my former (now deceased) Zildjians did. I try not to be a brand snob, but I just had to remove the ugly name Stagg with Autosol, but I left the smart looking DH logo. |

| I use DH and DH Exo's mixed with Zildjian A Customs and they sit in really well. |
