@benjisonfire i hear you dude - and it was a toss up - the oyster is classic but, i'm a lazy man. i've always preferred satin finishes as they don't show finger prints. cleaning gloss tubs is a nasty job. plus black is the new ...er, black. ever since thomas lang started playing a black kit it is back in fashion. @ lee tomorrow i get to hear her miced up. can't wait. thanks every one j |

if I had the cash I would have that kit in a heartbeat!
Been SO close to buying this kit so many times. To the point where I've entered my card details. Then I think of/listen to my saturn and just can't justify it. If I heard one in the flesh and it was a sound I liked, GAME OVER BANK BALANCE. |

played her for the first time last night. er...is it wrong to fall in love with an inanimate object? The toms are so clean and warm but not lacking in projection. i used no mufling on them at all. unmiced they filled the club with punch.
but the bass drum ...hmmmmmm mmm. with such a large vellum i was able to tune quite high without losing bottom end. no hole in the front and just some felt strips and one small pillow to stop feedback from close micing. she has incredible volume - even when the mic fader was bumped down accidentaly in the second set - she still cut through. phat and wet but with a little hum of warmth after the initial attack. the perfect all round rock bass drum sound. j

| Great looking drums Jason. Seriously considering this exact kit. Possibly a big ask, but would you be able to post any sound clips? There's not many on youtube that i can find. |

I was literally at a drumshop the other day asking about the gretsch renown 24/13/16/18, but the finishes didn't impress me much. I'm going to wait until the summer, because there will be a new finish (they won't say what it is.)
Having said that, the satin black does look pretty sharp in person, nice one Jason! |

i had to interview a new engineer for my studio today so i took the opportunity to have him record my kit. we only had an hour window (between clients) to set up tune up mic up and go. but here is what she sounds like. ps: we used a simple glyn john mic set up. i think he did a good job under pressure so i will hire him. j http://jasonhorsler.tripod.com/me.html |
