I'm usually found slapping the tops of my thighs or if I'm in the car the steering wheel gets it.

Air drummer here too, I also tap my thighs, steering wheel etc.
I think someone on here suggested to another forumite, that air drumming is a good way to find your perfect set up, which is what I did, thank you, to whoever it was, think it might've been Diesel.

I love my air drums, they are easy to transport, set up and break down in a jiffy. Pity they are so tricy to mic.

Air drumming is irritating and people who it should be put down before their parents are born.

Er, Guilty.
But I have reduced how much I do it by playing my uke.

Air drummed for years before any drums came on the seen. My cheap banana shaped sticks served well and i could play along to many an early 70s Quo album. Trying to play the stuff for real in a band setting was a tad more difficult!

Constant tapper, which increases if I havent played in a couple of days. It drives my wife absolutely mad as it comes on particularly when she is issuing orders.

Always tapping on something, favourite trick is to tap my thumb on my mousemat to make a bass drum sound and my fingernail on top of the mouse to create a snare sound and my other thumb on keboard spacebar to provide the hihat. Do this a lot subconciously when I'm reading something on screen and it drives my colleagues nuts

I don't 'air drum' - ever. Hate it. I occasionally tap-tap-tap when I'm thinking too hard about something but that's about it. I'd rather expend my energy on the kit than look like a prat! Heh.

I'm forever tapping my desk, knees or anything else close by. my feet are constantly going too.
I think the question should be 'does anyone NOT air drum or tap?!'

Always drumming, tapping, slapping thighs, drumming on steering wheel etc etc.

My dentist recently informed me that I seemed to be grinding my teeth and wearing them down- I don't - when I'm not air drumming, I tap my teeth to rhythm.

Not aware, not in control.

I can 'air drum' the opening couple of bars of the Eastenders theme a treat, but when I try and play it on my kit, it sounds crap! Same thing used to happen with the music at the end of Brookside! (Must get some more tom toms!)

Henry, it really is your lucky day!! It IS in mairine pearl with, and get this, air brushed laquer and the original airverplay heads that Premiair supplied.
Send me a cheque to cover postage and it's yours.

PS. I can't send it by air mail though, would be far too expensive.

Cant help myself tapping something. I also have prety good kit on my teeth. I find that I can play a pretty good beat by chomping on my teeth. In fact, I'm better at that than with real drums. My double molar technique is awsome!!!

Tama (well, a badge on the bass), Zildjian, Grandad-made tambourine, Premier HD heads (8 years old now, and still going strong). Could do with lessons! http://s872.photobucket.com/albums/ab285/AnthonyOConnell/My%20Drum%20Kit/
