Cool. Where did you got the wrap/kitchen worktop? Wouldn't mind having a crack at that myself.

I am not saying its better then wrap but for me its cheap and easy to do.

Theres loads of sheets to pick from and they look ok after.

...but he hasn't seen what it was like under the wrap...

FWIW I really like what you've done.

Is the Formica more brittle than standard drum wrap?

I assume it's good for withstanding heat and regular cleaning !

I see it as a cheap way to get old kit looking good

Yes it is but as soon as you bend it around the drum then its as strong as they come very hard to scratch.

I'd try coated Ambassadors or Evans G1.

1970s Premiers, Olympic, Tosco, Zilco, Super Zyn....oh, and UFIP too.

Strange coincidence but I was thinking about this today and remembering the 'McDonalds' kit you posted a couple of years ago. I was in Wilkinson's at the time looking through the Fablon wondering whether the white marble would pass a marine pearl. I decided against it. Your kit looks great.

I think they look great!! What glue would someone use to do this?

Ludwig, Rogers, HipGig. Too many snare drums. Lots of K's. Endorsee for Protection Racket, KickPort and De La Cruz Custom Drumkeys.

Did not use glue just lined the holes up where the lugs where as they are small drums
Last time I used double sided tape
Cheers for the heads up

I've covered a Yam 9000 bass drum conversion from an 18" tom with this stuff. Looks great and is close-ish enough to the cherrywood toms to work, especially with maple hoops.

Looks brilliant Kev!!! I guess a lot of the formica finishes would just make it look like a kitchen worktop but that looks great, like proper expensive walnut burl or something!
