Anyone know any bars in Hamburg which run open-mic nights? Not necessarily so I can play, I just enjoy the variety you can get at these nights.
Plenty of bands playing in Albert Platz last night, and 1 in particular caught my eye. Left-handed drummer, hats, ride, snare bass & floor tom, 3 piece band & only the acoustic guitarist sang. Drummer seemed to be concentrating quite hard, and I got the impression he may have been fairly new to the band, but not depping I think. However, he just did everything right. Nothing over complex, steady right foot, timing on the nail, fills neat and precise, accents came across well, and he kept the groove alive without over-druming. Wish I could drum like that.
Anyway, jam nights? (And yes we've walked Hubert Strasse, and are so far dodging the aggressive girls. Although 1 of our number was rather chuffed he was being targeted more than the rest of us. Silly sod, he just had a nice jacket on, which they were eyeing up).
