More of a rant really, but if anyone has advice then please give it.
I'm messing around with my setup and decided to try my rack toms on a stand so I can have the ride over my bass drum.
How the hell do you fit evreything together? i.e, Cymbal stand, stand for toms, snare stand, hi hat stand.
there doesn't seem to be enough room and everything gets in the way of everything else. |
Mid life crisis kicked in, drum kit bought. It's not quite like cycling though, you forget. A lot! |

| I've just done away with a rack - too heavy - and used stands with my rack toms, multi-clamped off cymbal stands. I took some time at home to get the balance and setup right, then marked everything with jubilee clips and memory locks (You can also use nail varnish!). It took a while but was worth it; wouldn't want to try and do it in a hurry on a gig. |

| Flush based stands get closer to the bass drum as they can tuck beneath it, then set tripods over them and further away. |

| I used to have two crashes and two toms on the same stand. They are so many different multiclamp options these days that pretty much anything is possible. |

| One of my stands looks like a small Russian space station (badly built and about to fall out of orbit at any time but thats besides the point) there's that much metal clamped off it in all directions. I leave it exactly as it is between gigs - just pull the boom arms out and fold the legs and it goes into my hardware case complete. Massive bonus to set up times. Not so great when klingons start orbiting it at gigs..... |

Easy. Wrap tin of beans in banana skin. Hand to nearest gorilla. Await moment of gorilla rage on discovering lack of tasty banana innards. Tin of beans likely to be violently opened imminently. Job done. |
