Hi,
I have a Pearl bass drum pedal, bought new last year but I'm not sure what model exactly (it cost about £90 I seem to remember), and it seems to have developed some unwanted play in it.
Whilst holding still the end where the spring attaches to the end of the horizontal bar that the beater attaches to I can rotate the beater through about 20 degrees. Everything is tightened up properly but there is still far too much movement.
What could be causing this and can it be easily fixed?
Thanks.

Are you sure you haven't missed a grub screw that's worked loose?

Whatever the problem : www.pearldrum.com/Customer-Support/Product-Catalogs.aspx will have a PDF of the pedal . Once you've identified the pedal, fixing it will be easy.

I had this on an old Pearl pedal which came with an Export kit. The bit where the beater bolts into had worn on the axle which was turning it, so the beater could slop around on the axle. On mine it was unfixable due to the age of the pedal, and the previous person had just gotten used to it, so the wearing was too much to fix, but there should be a grub screw somewhere which should make things a bit more solid for you.

Hi dude, sorry I wasn't friendlier, I'm feeling rough as feck and after you left thought, hummm, not the most sparkly and cheerful I've ever been, hope you didn't take offence. Dave.
