Looking at my kit today and i decided i find it hard to play the way its setup

The Mid tom basically pointing at me, the ride quite far over to the right of the bass drum and my cymbals generally really high

Sooooo i set about trying to make it better and after much tinkering and sore fingers ( jammed between the mid tom and bass drum ) i finally found a comfortable position AND im actually sitting much higher than all the drums now and it feels so much closer

So i went from this

to this

My set up is similar but I have my ride up higher at the same level as the tom and pretty near the height of the hats. Took me ages to get comfy and I am still not 100% with the placement of the crash but as you can see the amount of room I have is limited. It's a small man cave :(

Glad you've found something that works for you. It's a tricky one but great when you get there!

Took me a while too, but as Logic says, its worth it.

Mr Noisy once explained to me drum ergonomics.....I live but it now.

I think finding a very comfortable setup is massive. My playing has become better for it, maybe it's because i can actually reach now and I'm not a short guy
