I seem to get alot of ambience from my snare so much so if i stop playing and just talk at a normal level the snare wires rattle

Yes i have deep voice but im no Barry White ? I have tried the snare wires and different tensions

Anyone know where i can get my snare drum tuned in newcastle area or maybe someone at SITMS can do it for me ?

I'll have a look at SITMS if you like. You could try some drier wires (Puresound Twister or EQ could be good)...

Well, maybe hold out on them until after SITMS. Let's see if I can do anything with what you've got first, as the wires can be pricey and it's not guaranteed!

Check out Jeff Davenport's series on the main site, lots of useful info on there.

DW used to (might still) recommend a certain pitch for their shells, but it's not a great way particularly as there are so many variables.

Something you might want to try is loosening the lugs either side of the snare wires a little, sometimes that can help the buzz a little.

Canopus Wet are cracking wires.
Snares will rattle at the drop of a hat mate, I bet it's just a slight tuning/alignment issue.
Take off the bottom head, watch Bob Gatzen's snare tuning vid on Ebay and try again

Might be happier with the addition of another two.

Sitting on top of the mountain isn't the most interesting bit of the climb. Sitting at the bottom aint much fun either.

Try de-tuning snare side head and slacken tension on the wires.

Difficult prob to sort this one...and something I'd normally ignore as a fact of life...

but to add to all the really good other suggestions I would check you haven't overtightened the snare wires too.

Drum makers don't generally advise you on setting exact pitches for their drums...and neither do head manufacturers for their heads...so, for me, the important thing to be doing is relating the drum sound you have to the music you're playing, asking, does it fit the music?

I've found that Tuning for tunings sake can be a downward vortex of un-happiness, conjecture and conflict!

(Nice bright thoughts for a Wednesday morning... LOL!)

Let us know if you find a cure!

I've tried a similar line in the past...."I'm not really a gynaecologist but I can have a look if you want".

Truth be told, my success rate never went above "LOW".

Well, nil, actually.

Carry on.

If you've overtightened the snares in the past you might like to check if there's no bent wires that need clipping off.
Some people take off the outer two abyway but that's a bit like the bloke in the pub who orders ten whiskies lined up on the bar and knocks off the first and last ones and when asked says that it's because the first one tastes awful and the last one makes him sick.

Sitting on top of the mountain isn't the most interesting bit of the climb. Sitting at the bottom aint much fun either.
