11 out of 20 for me. Most of my answers were stabs in the dark. When do you guys need to leave the country? |

eight. and that's only because it's a multiple choice and random guesses.
My response to most of the questions was I don't know ( or care ).
Perhaps its a clever bit of reverse psycology. The more you get right -the less chance there is of you being an ordinary citizen.

18/20, having said that I took the Life in the UK test less than 12 months ago, requiring a huge amount of revision using the official books the answers to these questions are hidden in.
It is probably the most ridiculous and pointless test I've ever done. |

8/20. Shocking score but yet you can't be expected to know most of the answers without specific revision.
Still, I'll get my coat. |

| I know a fellow who was born and bred in USA but moved to UK primarily for our good ales and less conformist ways. A few years after becoming a British citizen he was a candidate to become a local MP. He was asked by the local rag why British people should vote for a foreigner to be their MP. He replied that he WAS now British, and furthermore that he was the only candidate who had actually CHOSEN to be British! |

I got 11 out of 20 but the answers to some of the questions are just plain wrong.

14/20 - I left already!!!
Question 16 interests me however since I actually designed the template for publication of the "speakers Notes" (about 12 yrs ago now, so not too sure if it is still used...). I understood that it was the official record of the days proceedings.... ya live and learn dont ya. -R. |

15 but many of those questions are absolutely irrelevant. They have no significance to everyday life or if you are a good citizen, although i am obviously a lot better than you lot on paper at least, bloody Communists. Feck knows who decided those questions were a good judge of being a citizen but they are plainly tossers

How would an Immigrant know the question about the school uniforms? I knew the answer because I bought 3 a year for years. More importantly, WHY would an Immigrant need to know? No doubt Theresa May is behind it. A waste of time, implemented by a waste of space. |

By a system of educated guesses, 18!!
I hereby declare myself to be PM and shall be accepting worthwhile bribes looking around for decent chaps to form the cabinet.
Jamoca equalled my score but he'd revised so I claim top spot; how does Foreign Secretary grab ya, Josh? Thackeray got a fair total so you can do Health if you want, Simon, and Stormblast for Chancellor as he obviously doesn't have a feckin' clue!

I got 10/20. Oh no, send him back!!!
But I really don't see the point in a test such as this. OK, the speed limit, prescriptions, job application and maybe even the halloween questions at least touch on something useful for anyone coming into the country... but the rest is largely irrelevant unless you have a specific interest in say politics or history.
A much more useful questionnaire would focus more on important issues, such as jobs, finances, health, education, and the law. These are real-life day-to-day things that are essential to know but do vary in different countries. Seriously who gives a toss about a Hansard or quango and how is it ever going to help anyone? |

The only questions which have any real day-to-day relevance in UK are the one about speed limit on single carriageway roads, and how to discourage children from playing tricks on you on Hallowe'en.
The Hallowe'en question is still an odd inclusion to use as a measure of "Britishness" because Trick or Treating is an American custom which only made its way to UK within the last 30-40 years! |
