Just noticed the difference in admission between last years and this years National Drum Fair.

2011 Tickets £5 day, £8 Weekend.

2012 Tickets £10 Saturday, £8 Sunday and £16 Weekend.

Quite a heafty hike given the current climate!

Its still good vaule i bet there council have put the room hire up so they can pay the head of the council £1000000'00000000 AWEEK
The next Jordan Terris Memorial Drum Festival will be Feb 24th 2013

A 100% rise over last years entrance fee is not justifiable in my book, the organisers need to state why they needed to do this,,

Well, it IS a big hike, but like Kev says, the costs for staging it have probably risen aswell and they'd have to pass that on. Lee, I don't think the organisers have any obligation to justify anything as it's not a charitable or subsidised event as far as I know. As such they can price it how they like.

I've been twice and thoroughly enjoyed them, the show and the whole weekend is great fun and I'd love to go and meet up with Dolbearians again. An £8 rise certainly doesn't put me off that. The hotel, food & £140 or so in fuel however....

The concert will start at 1pm in the main hall followed by a free 1 hour workshop/clinic in the annex just off the main hall at 2.30pm and will be hosted by Pete Cater who many will know as one of this generations foremost jazz drummers. This workshop/clinic will be a chance to see the mechanics of Pete’s playing and there will be practice pads for everyone to join in, so don’t forget your sticks. Due to the size of the annex, there is a limit on the amount of people (approx 50).
At 4pm there will be a raffle draw with some extra special prizes.

On the Sunday we have the winner of this years’ ‘Young Drummer of the Year’ Calum Blair performing at 12:30pm followed straight after by one of the finalists, a very talented Charlie Vasilio.

At 2pm till 3pm, we have another free workshop/clinic in the annex, this time hosted by Malcolm Garrett. Malcolm is one of Jim Chapin’s prodigies and one of the great drum teachers around and again everyone can join in so don’t forget your sticks.(limited spaces available)
We then have the raffle draw at 3:30pm.

With some new faces as well as old friends and especially not forgetting our special guests this will be the best year yet. So don’t forget to put this 10th anniversary of the Drum fair in your diary as I would not want anyone to miss out!

That's probably the cause of the price increase. I might have to drink one less flagon of wine on Saturday night to ensure I can afford it.

A tenner would be a cheap ticket just for a big band gig, let alone masterclasses and the other stalls...sounds like a good event!

At first it did sound a big hike, but not now. Should be a cracker. I've put it down on the band calendar as not available so I should be there. Just need to find out what the score is Mrs B re hotels etc.
