So I was just wondering, how many of you out there own your perfect kit? By which I mean you have all the drums and cymbals from the right manufacturer (we try to hide it but we are all that shallow) and the right colour set up in exactly the right way?
Or in other words, your dream kit? |

i think so. I just got back from a gig and was thinking the whole night this setup cannot be improved...perhaps only by a different finish on my kit but that's just because i have had it for some time and am getting a little bored with black. I feel very very content but ever so slightly sad...knowing my setup cant be beat (for my taste) is a strange feeling.
There is always that roundbadge bop kit to look forward to though! |

| Yup I think so, Yamaha RC in black and Birch Custom in Midnight Sparkle, 2002 crashes and ride and NewBeat hats, DW 9000 pedals and Ludwig BB snare. For me it don't get any better, but it took a while to get it all. Using a 24x16 ( RC ) OR 24X18 Birch Custom, also have matching Maple Custom 22x18, 10,13,16 toms usually or any combo of RC from 8 to 18, all here. My perfect sound and setup. |

Me! I have absolutely, 100% the kit I want..... mind you, it took close to 30 years to get to that stage.
One of my crash cymbals is cracking up, it will be replaced exactly like for like, and the fact that the little aux snare I sometimes use doesn't match the rest of the kit used to irk me but it doesn't anymore. So, yeah, wouldn't change a thing.  |

I run two kits, but usually the same set up, 1 up 2 down 12", 14", 16" with 20" bass
On my Premier kit I also have a 13" tom if ever required
With my Jobeky kit + 2Box module I have any kit I want
With both I use Matt Nolan Cymbals, Silverstone stool & Los Cabos sticks

| I've got a kit that I'm very happy with, but I never seem to set it up the same way twice! What with Kit shares, limited space, different setups in the studio as well as sometimes being to lazy to bring all the drums mean it rarely looks the same twice. |

| I'm there not wise, my Carrera kit arrived a month or so ago and I can cover any option I want or need (22,10,12,14,16). I've ten Snare drums too including Highwood, Carrera and Ludwig so I'm sorted there. Cymbal wise i'm playing a ix bag of Drams, Paiste 2002 Diril and Sabian. No great desire to have matching brands, buy with your ears;-) |

Yep, I believe I have. I've a Sonor Jungle kit that works for all of the gigs I want to do and a selection of cymbals in various sizes/weights that all mix'n'match well together but also give me enough variation to go from a jazz gig to a metal gig if I need to!
Oh, and then there THE snare... Lovely Highwood. |

My go to kit is my Tama Artstar2 custom in Birdseye maple throughout (8" 10" 12" 14" ft, 20" bass drum) coupled up with a Tama bell brass piccolo, with paiste 2000 reflector crashes, 20" signature full dark ride, and signature 15" sound edge heavy hats. It records like a dream, you can hear it here-

At the moment, yes. Mapex Meridian Birch - 22", 10", 14" with a 13" Highwood maple snare. I've got Sabian AAX 20" stage ride, 14" stage hats, 16" stage crash and 18" dark crash. The mapex drums are of a blue sparkle finish and the Highwood snare is natural maple; a great contrast IMO.
It all looks and sounds great.

I played my Velvetone last night which is pretty damm special, but that said, I still lust after a clear Ludwig Vistalite, so i guess the answer is no i dont. |

| I have my perfect cymbal set up, Sabian 22"HH Heavy Ride and 16" medium Crash mixed with Paiste Stambul 20" ride/crash and 18" crash, but does the perfect kit exist? i'm hoping this Luddy i just got does it for me in a live enviroment, i haven't played it in anger as yet as the band is still rehearsing, it gets it's first outing on the 28th of this month, it's sounding good in my back room though, especially the 24" bass drum, i'll post on the results later,, |

Don't think I'll ever have a perfect kit. Maybe for like a week. If I had the money I could cover all bases but wouldn't be one kit.
Problem is I like playing small ish kits (one up one down, hats, 2 crash + ride), but I like a different vibe depending on my mood. Sometimes I'm feeling a dry washy ride, other times something sweet with a clean crash, and then others a super heavy, pure 'ping' sound. Which would mean 3 rides, but I hate playing on kits with lots of cymbals Same goes for other cymbals, sometimes proper old school dirty hats, others nice clean A custom sound... Same reason I've been tempted for a big 24" gretsch kit but never got it. Looks and sounds soo cool in itself, but wouldn't work with the tight drum sound I need for my pop-rock/funk band.
Maybe one day I can just play venues big enough for 3/4 kits and switch depending on the track |

I have one of those kits as you would be suprised how versatile it is. Works fine for funk and pop. |

I absolutely don't have my dream kit. I have been pondering a new purchase for a while but always change my mind on what I want, so best to keep my money for a while.
I love my Ludwig kit and would never get rid of it, but that's really an emotional attachment as I have played, gigged and taught with it, not because it's anything special kit-wise. 
I think I've narrowed it down to either a Yamaha RC, Premier (not sure which) or Tama Superstar Hyperdrive. As I'm not in a hurry, I thought I'd look for the kits to have a go on in shops and see what I prefer 'in real life'.
I'm happy with my A custom hats and ride, but I've gone through 2 Wuhan chinas and I think I need a different one next. Again, no urgency means I'll wait until I get really good reviews or hear one I love.
I'm glad SITMS is coming up, I'm totally going to perv on other peoples kits and ask them about theirs.

I'm pretty happy with mine. I keep thinking about refinishing the Yamaha, but my cymbal set up and the drum sounds are all just about perfect.
(There's nothing much wrong with the finish on my Yamaha btw - it's just that in some lights it goes a bit turquoise, and I'm just not a fan of that colour) |

Wow, cymbals you can drink, what more could you ask for?!
I am very, very happy with my DeLites. As to cymbals, I do have a hankering to replace a 16" K Thin Dark crash with something with a broader dynamic range, most likely UFIP and I am well down the road on hardware weight reduction now. |

I have to say thats a lovely setup.
I'v never liked the idea of a rack because i think they are ugly but that rack looks nice and also looks to save floor space.
