Hi All, I sold a mobile phone for £20 yesterday and 24 hours later I haven't been paid or contacted by the buyer. My plan is too send him a polite message thanking him for bidding, but pointing out that 24 hours have passed and if I don't hear from him or receive payment in another 24 I'll offer it to the next bidder down. So my question, do you think I'm being reasonable, unreasonable or too reasonable? As ever your opinions and input are valued. Cheerio Mark W |

Thanks for your thoughts Beez and Swampy, I'll give him until Monday. I'm a bit twitchy because I've had some poor recent experiences on eBay, and when this buyer placed his bid with 30 seconds to go I assumed the next thing he'd do would be to log onto PayPal and tie everything up. I still think this is what people should do, but maybe he wasn't actually online and he used on of those sniping programmes to bag it which would explain the delay. Cheerio Mark W |

Good Afternoon, Personally I have frequently given a buyer five days to pay, after all I don't promise to get it out any sooner, missus. 30 Seconds!! Pah, that's premature speculation...

I have had numerous auctions won with the winning bid coming in with seconds to spare. Some folk pay right away and some take days, possibly waiting for pay day!
Usually if 3-4 days pass with no contact i'll drop a friendly email. |

| you have to take into account that some people set up accounts with sites like auction sniper that bid automatically on their behalf towards the end of the auction |

Don't payment conditions default to payment must be received within 7 days or something like that? Personally I normally pay instantly but there have been occasions when something I really wanted ended a few days before pay day - I'd win the auction and pay a few days later. To be fair though I'd normally check that it's OK with the seller before bidding and keep in touch throughout.
Still, I've sold items where the buyer hasn't been in contact for a week and then they just pay out of the blue, without an email or anything. I think when selling you have to be prepared for people being @rseh0les. Most people are OK but there are plenty of a-holes out there. |

Only on BIN items Dave.
There are some complete w a n k e r s on Ebay. Its part and parcel of selling on the worlds most popular auction site.
I normally pay within minutes to 48 hours max. But you can file a non payer alert after 4 days I think. |
