Makes you sick:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2012/jul/21/global-elite-tax-offshore-economy

With this, the news that HSBC have been laundering the South American drug trade's dirty profits for years, Barclays & dozens of other banks being investigated for setting interest rates...

The super rich & multi national corporations run the world now, I don't think politicians have any real power against these people any more. Labour, Liberals & Conservatives are in the pockets of these companies - just look to see how many MP's have jobs/advisory roles in either multi-nationals or the finance industry.

Greed, Lack of regulation & plain of criminality have opened up a world of inequality where we are told the poor & disabled are free-loading parasites, but the super-rich help the economy. How wrong. The super rich are the parasites...and I cannot see where the situation is going to change, or get better.

Apologies for the rant, needed to get that out.

I read about this on BBC site yesterday. It has been growing since the privatisation and de-regulation dogma arrived in the 1970s, with Reaganomics and Thatcherism being its prime movers. I have been aware for ages that the gap between rich and poor has been widening but the scale is truly staggering. The gap actually widened faster under Blair than under Thatcher, Major, Duncan-Cough et al.

Having been brought up with the idea that communism/socialism is "bad" and capitalism is "good" this just proves to me that both systems are seriously flawed, and that politicians around the world have deserted any notion of responsibility.

^^^ Yeah, right. What really fecks me off is all that stuff above, then the business about "cash in hand" tradesmen costing the country £2bn in unpaid tax. £2bn is a very small pi$$ in a very big ocean when compared to the taxes the big companies/big earners get away without paying through offshore arrangements.

The worry is that when the taxman suggests (accuses) anyone of tax evasion without any hint of proof.

It is then your job to disprove their assessment of your earnings which involves you in great expense both with legal and accountancy fees unless you are insured.

It can happen to anyone self employed.

Shut it and whack the poxy things!

It's been said that 90% of all US$ bills show cocaine traces. A friend of mine who seems to know about these things and how it operates..reckons that if concrete had the same retention properties...You could get gakked out of your skull by licking concrete in Canary Wharf

Is it broken ?? The neo-liberal version might fall, with a good push.

Tip of the iceberg. (most of what went on was quickly, and deeply buried )
