Anyone A/b'd a power centre reverse dot and the remo controled sound equivalent?

notice a difference? I was really happy with my PCRD, but fancy trying the remo as I have pinstripes on everything else.

I stupidly replaced it with a G2 (all they had in the shop!) and it sounds terrible!

Are we talking snare drum here Benji? I can't say I have compared it direct with the Evans equivalent but my "default" snare batter head is the Remo Coated Controlled Sound. Always seems to work for me and the dot on the underside seems to prolong the life of the head quite a bit compared to a standard Coated Ambassador.

Iv'e had the Remo power centre and EPCRD at the same time on two different snares, there's no noticeable difference, both great heads,, in fact, i have an EPCRD just waiting to go on my L400 when it shows up,,

Yeah on snare. The Evans one was great but the head just died from overuse. had to replace it that day and G2 was all there was. I feel like my sound has been robbed though I hate the G2!

I think for safety I may stick with the evans version I know I love it... but It would be nice to have all the heads the same logo. I know it shouldn't matter, but the symmetry and aesthetic is important fort your pleasure on the kit... if your bothered by such details... which I am!

If your'e saying you have Remo heads on the rest of your kit you'll be safe with the Remo CSD,, if you get one and don't think it's the same sound as the Evans i'll buy it off you or swap it for my Evans, (as long as it's the coated one), i know what you mean about logo's, my OCD goes haywire if the logo's not at 12 o'clock,,

yeah coated reverse dot. I can't believe how long it took me to discover that head. it's the perfect sound on snares IMO.

I agree, i'm always looking for the perfect tom head set up but the Evans (first) or the Remo equivelant is the go to sound for me (with an Evans hazy 300 underneath),,

PCRD over Hazy 300 is a fine combination and surprisingly versatile.

S'fumny - I always used the coated Remo CS on snares - when I got my current kit, after a couple of gigs I changed the coated G1 to a CSD and it killed the drum- same when I put emperors on my toms.

For some reason, my kit sounds best with evans....

For me, if it sounds right keep it. Cos what you think might work - might not!!

I find the Evans head a tad brighter sounding than the Remo equivalent, Evans have much more secure tuning than the Remos which wins out for me.
