One? ONE? Damn, that's tough.

Ok, I'll bite: Everybody Wants to Rule the World. I will never tire of hearing Manny Elias' gloriously quirky shuffle. If it's on in the car, I have to wind down the windows and sing along. It's perfect.

I always thought it was 'Everybody...'
Anyway, I read somewhere that this song is considered THE perfect 'pop' song.
Love it too.

ONE SONG ONLY is the choice! No 1,2,3,4

For me 'All the young dudes'

But Uplifting ? Gimmie Shelter ?

Yeah, a storm is threatening
My very life today
If I don't get some shelter
Lord, I'm gonna fade away

War, children, yeah, it's just a shot away

It's just a shot away

War, children, yeah, it's just a shot away

It's just a shot away, hey, yeah

Oh, see the fire is sweepin'

At our streets today

Burnin' like a red coal carpet

A mad bull lost its way

War, children, yeah, it's just a shot away

It's just a shot away

War, children, yeah, it's just a shot away

It's just a shot away, hey, yeah

Rape, murder, it's just a shot away

It's just a shot away

Rape, murder, it's just a shot away

It's just a shot away

Rape, murder, it's just a shot away

It's just a shot away

Yeah, a storm is threatening

My very life today

A gimme, a gimme shelter

Or I'm gonna fade away

War, children, yeah, it's just a shot away

It's just a shot away

War, children, yeah, it's just a shot away

It's just a shot away

It's just a shot away, it's just a shot away

It's just a shot away, shot away, shot away

It's just a shot away, it's just a shot away

It's just a shot away, shot away, shot away

I tell love, sister, yeah, it's just a kiss away

I tell love, sister, yeah, it's just a kiss away

It's just a kiss away, it's just a kiss away

It's just a kiss away, it's just a kiss away

Kiss away, kiss away

It's just a kiss away, it's just a kiss away

It's just a kiss away, it's just a kiss away

Kiss away, kiss away, kiss away, kiss away

Gimme shelter, yeah, gimme shelter,yeah

Gimme shelter, yeah, gimme shelter

Gimme shelter, gimme shelter

Nice tune though.

^ I actually prefer You Can't Always Get What You Want off the same Stones album. Charlie does a lolloping beat almost the whole way through, and eventually on the fade out the choir hits the high notes and Charlie doubles the time and adds cymbal crashes on the back beats, terrific stuff, simple but so effective.

Vincent Black Lightning 1952 and Mother Knows Best by Richard Thompson are fine songs too.

One what I wrote earlier called You Bring Light. It's the most amazingly gorgeous pop-rock song ever written by anyone in all of the universes in all of the dimensions and deserves to be such a massive hit that the income from it would allow me to purchase Italy, Portugal and Lanzarote.

It took a while, but after many considerations i went for :

Hero's - David Bowie.

I don't know why but it nearly always makes me fill up. There is always something different about it everytime i listen to it. And 'That guitar'....wow!

(the other song i was toying with was Superstition, but Hero's just pipped it. Jeez Yard, that was harder than i thought)

Yeah "Go For Soda" is a brilliant choon/vibe but I believe it was inspired by the death of a friend in a drink related car crash. "Lemon Wedge" is another firm Mitchell fave of mine but you did say to pick just one...

So, so difficult! But finally plumped for an instrumental, Roy Ayers - The Golden Rod. Joyous vibe solo, and then when the Rhodes solo kicks in towards the end, sheer magic........never fails to brighten my day.
