Hey all, Is anyone around here a member of Starnow?

I tend to check it out from time to time and occasionally have thought to stick in an application for a couple of the jobs I've seen, but so far haven't really seen anything on there that's made me want to stump up the fee. Has anyone got any good work through it? And perhaps just as importantly, have any of you paid your fee and then found nothing of interest?

thanks,

I'm a member of star now, i applied for a position and found i had to be a member to apply which i did, i heard nothing from it either (ie, join my band's a bit like that,) i also found out that they re-bill you, iv'e cancelled my membership now but i think it's a sneaky move this re-billing lark, most of the work is down London and after that there was nothing that interested me locally,,

I used to subscribe to it. I did meet a few good people through it but most of the time it was people looking for musicians to do things for free. If you're after paid work UK music jobs is a good site. It's another one to subscribe to but it's forum is free and it has lots more serious sounding offers.

Thanks for that Gemma. I too used to subscribe but found nothing really professional come up on it. Nothing you couldn't find on Musicians Wanted etc... Will check this one out!

That's the overwhelming impression I've had so far. Lots of "drummer wanted", followed by a wishlist of skills and equipment, "Must be committed, no time wasters. No pay.". I'd never answer an ad like that (unless maybe I wasn't already in an original band).
I'll check out Music Jobs a bit more, I've never really paid it much attention so far, cheers Gemma.
