Are these better/worse/same as Moon Gel? Can't see there being a massive difference but I'm counting pennies at the moment so a few quid saved would be handy.

You could use bluetack if you wanted so I doubt you would notice a difference.

Well they appear to be a quid cheaper than moongel (which i think is silly money anyway) might be worth a try out though,,

Plus, on the upside, they also come in green. I think the green will probably make my drumming ever so slightly better. A bit like a go-faster-stripe.

I can get moongel for £4/5 a pot at Sunderland music and everywhere else seems to be more expensive! You could just buy a roll of gaffa tape?

Getting some new heads for recording, I don't fancy mucking them up if at all possible... As mentioned above, the cash is tight at the moment...

I've taken the almighty plunge and spent 6 of my hard earned tokens on this bad boy. Let's hope the green works out.

Ooh exciting...
Toms: 10", 12", 16"
possibly a 13" snare

Bass drum's OK, and I think I'll get away with not changing the reso's. What heads do you have?

moongel is amazing stuff, surely worth 5/6 even £7 quid. Use it when you want, cut it half, even a quarter, and if it gets fluffy and loses its sticky then just rinse it under the tap. Haven't used the other stuff. This stuff, imo, is by far the best sounding dampening. So many variations available, amazing stuff

Moongel is, as far as I'm concerned, the drummer's revelation. I've a pot of (semi-used) Moongel going begging - it's been in my hardware case for six months or more gathering dust. When your dad bothers to return to work (I don't blame him if he doesn't!), it's yours.

Yamaha 9000, '64 L400/Yamaha 8000/Yamaha brass/Premier XPK/Pearl brass piccolo snares, Zildjian A and A Custom dustbin lids, Pearl Eliminator double pedal, Roc 'n' Soc stool and a total lack of practice.

And then there's things like this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Silicone-Gel-Scar-Treatment-Scars-Repair-Removal-Sheet-/270767288614?pt=UK_Health_Beauty_Skincare_PP&hash=item3f0afcf126

apparently not the cheapest.

Sitting on top of the mountain isn't the most interesting bit of the climb. Sitting at the bottom aint much fun either.

Anyone remember these in the 1980s?

http://www.drfad.com/fad_facts/wallwalker.htm

was probably the same material. Wish I'd thought to turn it into drum damping

Mid life crisis kicked in, drum kit bought. It's not quite like cycling though, you forget. A lot!

Or this kind of thing:

Take the outer off and slice it up ...slightly cheaper than MG! (It was Jamoca who originally mentioned gel mosue mats as a source.)

Funny, I've had a few mails back and forth from a guy who bought a case off me on eBay and he mentioned window gel decorations too! Most people would have some of those in a Christmas decorations box, and it'd be a nice look for any gigs around the festive season!

For the price difference between these and moongels, remember that you get a handy wee case with the moongels...

No idea what difference the shape will make.

Jazz drummer
Mapex & Zildjian = the perfect combination!
