From personal experience, DTXplorer (Had) or DTXpress (Now have).

| Thumbs up for the DTXplorer. Got one a month ago, really good to practice on. |

| TD-3 would be my choice. |

I would go with either TD-3 or DTXplorer. I wasn't very impressed with the Traps E450, particularly the hihat response, and the general sound quality The Yamaha or Roland kits are excellent, and will trigger a PC sample library very nicely. The TD-3 actually sounds pretty good too - surprisingly decent samples, IMO better than the Yamaha. The next step up in sound quality would be a TD-4, or DTXpress IV. JF |

Not surprised about the hat response on the Traps. Mine went ages ago. On taking it apart, spares not being available and no answer to any queries at the Traps site, I took mine apart and the switch is a hairbreadth bit of chewy metal. I was surprised it lasted a year. Not bad otherwise if you don't mind the odd clonk off the rims & cyms. Try Colin of Koby drums, works from the ADC website and try and beat him down to a bargain. ecymbals Julian can put you in touch (also at ADC) and probably knows the state of play more as I haven't seen Colin for a while. |
Sitting on top of the mountain isn't the most interesting bit of the climb. Sitting at the bottom aint much fun either. |

| Another vote for a TD-3 or Yamaha DTXplorer or older Xpress. I have no experience of the Yammies but have had a TD-3. But I'm seeing all of those kits on eBay and local ads now at under £200 sometimes. Those prices are similar to Session Pro, ION, or whatever else generic cheap kits, it's a no brainer really! |
