No, not those brushes. Paint brushes.
If you carry a paint brush in your traps case you can give your kit a quick sweep now and again to keep the dust down.
Keep a spare small brush to soak with oil when it's maintenance time. Then you can run your tuning bolts thru the brush to give a light coat of oil and keep your hands fairly oil free.

Sitting on top of the mountain isn't the most interesting bit of the climb. Sitting at the bottom aint much fun either.

My stick bag is usually full of dusters, mainly used to convert music stands and other hard surfaces into mallet and traps tables (as for my gig last weekend: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/6048638/2012-08-11%2014.26.24.jpg). It's funny, therefore, just how dusty my kit tends to be...

A microfibre cloth is best for dust i find, i never oil tension rods, unless they've been on an old kit iv'e been refurbishing, then they might have a blast of DW40 after being de-rusted,,

I carry an 1" brush in my gear to get the muck from the bottom hoop and behind the tension bolts to save whacking my fingers..

I never lubricate the rods

Shut it and whack the poxy things!
