Yamaha UK are really pleased to announce that Andrew Small will be opening Yamaha’s Drumfest events in September and October with a Masterclass on Hybrid Drumming and Triggering. Yamaha’s 3-day festival devoted entirely to drumming, being held in Cardiff, Birmingham, Nottingham, Glasgow and London.
Without doubt Andrew Small is one of the most respected drummers pioneering what is now commonly known as ‘Hybrid’ Drumming, bringing the worlds of electronic and acoustic drums together on Live Stages around the world. Andrew has a distinctly deep and soulful groove but is just as comfortable behind a studio mixing desk, or piano as he is behind his drum kit. It is with this deep knowledge and understanding of music production which enabled him to add elements from recordings and use them within the drum kit to enhance live performances. This is why he was called to work with acts including Massive Attack, and Moloko as well being Musical Director for Kylie Minogue and Il Divo.
There is no one better than Andrew to give a step-to-step guide of how electronics can be used to complement your playing when tackling various styles of music, while also highlighting some pitfalls to avoid. With live performance Q&A and demonstrations this will be an opportunity not to be missed.
