California Custom Drum Makers Debut Limited Edition Exotic Wood Drumsets & Snares Handcrafted from Highly Figured Australian Blackwood & Blackheart Sassafras
(January 25th, 2018th, 2016– Oxnard, CA) Drum Workshop Inc. has announced the debut of their limited edition DW Collector’s Series® Pure Tasmanian Timber drumsets. Handcrafted in DW’s California Custom Shop located in Oxnard, CA, these exceptional drums feature a core of incredibly resonant Australian Blackwood with an outer layer of highly figured Blackheart Sassafras. Finished in a Quick Candy Black Burst to Natural Lacquer which is perfectly complemented by DW black nickel hardware, these distinctive drums are completed with a specialty “Limited Edition DW Pure Tasmanian Timber” badge.
DW Drums’ Executive Vice President and Drum Designer, John Good travelled over 8000 miles to the island state of Tasmania off the coast of Australia to source the distinctive tone woods used to craft these uncompromising drums. Each DW Collector’s Series® Pure Tasmanian Timber 6-piece drumset is available in preconfigured sizes which include 18×22” bass drum, 8×10”, 9×12”and 12×14” toms, and 6.5×14”snare drum. Each drumset is individually signed and numbered. Only 200 drumsets and 200 à la carte snares will ever be produced.
“When Australian Black Sassafras trees are damaged by winds or storms, interior parts of the tree are sometimes exposed to rainwater and the trees can become infected with a staining fungus,” said Good. “I know fungus doesn’t sound like a good thing, except in these trees, the fungus turns the normally gray-to-golden-brown heartwood into vibrant streaks dark browns and blacks which is where it gets its name, ‘Blackheart Sassafras.’”

All-in-One Drum Processing Plug-In Offers One-Click Set Up and Streamlines Drum Recording
(12/22/2018 – BOSKOVICE, CZECH REPUBLIC): Audio software and hardware effects developer Audified has announced a partnership with Drum Workshop that will premiere their new DWe or DW Electronics brand. The aptly-named DWe Drum Enhancer is all-in-one, audiophile drum processing plug-in that is incredibly intuitive and easy to use. Compatible with today’s most popular DAW software (Pro Tools, Logic, Cubase, and others), it’s designed to help engineers, drummers and home recording enthusiasts dial in drum sounds at the push of a button via a 12-positon selector that was based on the preferences of many of DW’s most notable endorsers. Each selection automatically applies the appropriate settings, such as EQ type, slope, frequency and compression type, including attack, release, and knee shape, noise gate and sidechain filter.

The photorealistic user interface is modelled after DW’s successful line of DW Manufacturing boutique aluminium pedals and is presented in a manner that will maximize workflow and boost creativity. Sonically, the Drum Enhancer also acts a channel strip. An advanced valve circuitry model adds harmonics and tone if desired and can be tweaked to offer users precise control over saturation, presence and other frequencies, such as Brown (fairly flat), White (boosted signal and highs), Vintage (warmer high with added harmonics) and LoFi (extreme midrange). One click sets up the system, allowing the user to simply fine tune necessary adjustments, saving time, insert slots, and CPU (Central Processing Unit) load.
